Verizon Details ‘Coming Soon’ Devices: Xperia Play & More

If you’re a Verizon customer waiting for a particular device to come to your favorite carrier, then you may be in luck. It seems that a new Verizon online catalog is listing some devices not yet seen on the Big Red as “coming soon,” one of them being the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.

There are also details of LTE tablet data plans and some other devices are listed as “while supplies last,” which suggests newer versions may be coming, according to a report by Sean Hollister over on Engadget, sourced from Verizon. I’ll caution you that Hollister notes that the catalog’s URL does mention “2011 Winter” so it’s not possible to put a timescale on “coming soon” but at least you know they’re upcoming although we do think they’ll be sooner rather than later.

Devices listed as “coming soon” are RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, the HTC Trophy and of course the Xperia Play, otherwise known as the PlayStation Phone so it’s good news for those of you waiting for those devices on Verizon. Items listed as “while supplies last” include the BlackBerry Bold 9650, Curve 3G 9330 and Droid 2 Global.

If you’re wondering how much a Verizon LTE tablet data plan is going to cost you it seems you’re in luck as it looks like they’re going to cost the same as a 3G plan. For details head to the Engadget link above. Meanwhile Unwired View also reports on the Verizon catalog details and notes the same as us, that devices mentioned as “coming soon” should be out long before the winter. The Xperia Play for example, has often been mentioned by Verizon as being released “this spring.”

Have you been waiting for any of these devices to come to the Big Red? Are you hoping that “coming soon,” means sooner rather than later? Let us know by sending us your comments.
