Samsung Galaxy S II (S2) to Dominate: Sales Target 10 Million

We’ve been excited about the Samsung Galaxy S II (S2) since we first heard about this Android smartphone and we know from response to our many previous posts how many of you are eager to get your hands on it. It’s a handset that looks set to dominate across the world market and we hear that global sales targets are in the region of a staggering 10 million this year.

Just in the last couple of days we’ve published a roundup of reviews whereby the experts seem to be as impressed as us, news of the Galaxy S II already being rooted and also a look at it against the upcoming Apple iPhone 5. We’re not over-exaggerating when we say that if any phone can challenge the iPhone, the Samsung Galaxy S II is probably the one to do it. The phone has seen limited release so far in South Korea and also the UK but is set to be released in 120 countries over 140 operators. All major carriers in the US are expected to have the Galaxy S II on its release there (release date still unknown).

As a brief recap we’ll remind you that the Galaxy S II runs on the latest Android operating system, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, has a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 8-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facer, 1GB of RAM and a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen which has won huge praise from reviewers. Miyoung Kim of Reuters informs us that along with 10 million sales predicted for the Galaxy S II this year, Samsung aims to increase sales of its Galaxy Tab tablets by over five times, according to JK Shin, the head of the company’s mobile division.

The original Samsung Galaxy S was launched last year and according to an AFP report Samsung’s JK Shin said, “We expect the sales to be as good as Galaxy S. The original model has sold 14 million units worldwide since July 2010. The new phone is slimmer, faster and consumes less energy.” Are you waiting for the Galaxy S II to be launched where you are? Maybe you’re one of the lucky few that already has their hands on this mightily impressive smartphone? Let us know with your comments.

it will be ONE of the contenders to the apple iphone, but there is other phones like HTC which are contenders against the iphone like the HTC 7 trophy and the pro version!

the only problem with HTC is that it fails to bring good dual camera phones to UK or other huge cellphone markets.. Samsung Galaxy S 2 is a worldwide rival of the upcoming iPhone, whereas an HTC with a frontfacing camera might only be a rival in America or so..
