Twitter Fan Abuse Forces Bolton’s Kevin Davies To Leave

Bolton’s Kevin Davies is no stranger to online social networking site Twitter. Just a few weeks back, the footballer took to his official page and tweeted a big apology to Bolton fans after their 5-0 loss against Stoke City. Davies is not the first and wont be the last player to take to the popular site. Here at OSM we have spoken before now about players praise and rants to one another, tributes to great stars that are no longer here, fines against players that all too often manage to get themselves in hot water and so on.

This morning the striker Davies, who alone has some 99,795 followers according to metro, has now decided to end his Twitter page. He took to the site earlier today and informed his fans by saying, “Reason for leaving is partly due to abuse that nobody needs really. After 18 years in pro football abuse is part of the job description.”

He went on to say that he had received “great support” from not just Bolton fans but from rival teams as well, although criticism from unnamed sources had led him to make a decision to step away from Twitter, just for the time being.”

Although Davies hasn’t set a time as to when he will return to the site he tweeted, “I am sure I will be back on once retired and need to find a job or plug a book!!! I will also be able to have an opinion then.”
