White iPhone 4 Shortages Already? : 3 – 5 Days Shipping Time

We’ve been writing about the white iPhone 4 (or lack of it) for longer than we can remember but today after many delays, it finally goes on sale in retail stores and online. However if you want one, you may want to head out to a store pretty quickly. We’re wondering if there are white iPhone shortages already as online orders are listed with shipping time of 3 to 5 days.

Although the huge lines that normally accompany product launches are not expected, due to the fact that the black iPhone 4 has been available for 10 months, there are reports of long lines in Hong Kong, although in the U.S. it’s still early. Stan Schroeder of Mashable notes that after some time down, the Apple Online Store is now back and accepting orders for the white iPhone 4. However we’re told that if you want the black iPhone 4, shipping is listed “within 24 hours” whereas for the white iPhone on AT&T or Verizon, shipping time is listed as 3 – 5 days. We checked it out as you can see by the screenshot we’ve pictured below.

Does this indicate a shortage already, or maybe Apple has tried to avoid the in-store shortages of the iPad 2 by supplying more to retail stores this time? Meanwhile Christian Zibreg over on 9to5Mac also notes the 3 – 5 days shipping time for the white iPhone and Zibreg advises that if customers are eager to get their hands on one quickly their best bet is to head to an Apple retail store soon. If shipping times for the white iPhone are 3 to 5 days already, who knows what they might be by the end of the day.
