White iPhone 4 Hands-On Look & Video: Galaxy S II Comparison

We’ve lost count of the amount of articles we’ve posted about the once-mythical white iPhone 4 from Apple. However it’s finally released today and already a hands-on look is available along with a video and some brief comparisons with the Samsung Galaxy S II.

Over the last few days we told how the white iPhone was on its way to stores, the price of the white iPhone from Verizon and AT&T and also release details for Best Buy. The hands-on look comes to us from Chris Davies over on Slash Gear who finally got his hands on the coveted white phone this morning. As you would imagine it was found to be “little different to the original,” and looks much the same as the prototype versions spotted last year, despite all the problems perfecting the coloring.

There’s a myriad of photos of the white iPhone 4 at the Slash Gear link above along with a video, which you can also see below our story. It was also briefly compared to an Android handset, the Galaxy S II, and the display aspect of this is particularly interesting. The Retina Display on the iPhone 4 has received much praise but Davies found the Galaxy S II’s Super AMOLED Plus display held its own, despite it being a WVGA screen. Viewing angles on both were found to be excellent although Davies noted that the colors stand out even more on the Galaxy S II.

It was also noted that although the white iPhone 4 is narrower and shorter than the Galaxy S II, it’s also thicker and ultimately a decision between the two will probably come down to a preference between an iOS device and an Android OS. Meanwhile Charlie Sorrel over on Wired gives a neat roundup into the reasons why the white iPhone was delayed for so long. Are you heading out today to get your hands on the white iPhone 4 at last or maybe you’re going to wait for the iPhone 5 later this year? We’d be interested to hear from you so please send in those comments.

Dumb article. Those two phones arn't even in the same league.
    4.3" versus 3.5" ? Seriously ?
    Single 800mhz versus dual core 1200mhz ?
    Samoled+ vs retina ?

Ho wait. It's just the same iphone as last year but in white, this must be magically and somehow change everything.
