Video Game Pull Out Costs Beyonce $100 Million Court Case

Just as Mark Zuckerberg and his army of lawyers are walking out of the court room, it looks like pop diva Beyonce is walking in. The American beauty is reportedly being sued for $100 million after she quit a video game project.

The single ladies singer apparently signed a contract with Gate Five, a games company working on a new title called “Starpower: Beyonce”, where she was set to headline. When the pop queen backed out it “destroyed Gate Five’s business and drove 70 people into unemployment,” Geeky Gadgets has reported. Just to add insult to injury, all of this even happened the week before Christmas.

According to Yahoo, Beyonce’s alleged breach of contract has prompted Gate Five to sue her, claiming that she “lost the company $100 million in profits.” The games company also stated that they are seeking development costs of $6.7 million. This whole situation sounds a little bit blown out of proportion to me; I doubt a relatively unknown games studio would be making profits of $100 million even if Beyonce was on the cover of the game.

Gate Five also claimed that “at a critical moment in the project’s development”, Beyonce made an extortionate demand for entirely new compensation terms she wanted. Like we have never seen a price disagreement as the factor which makes or breaks a deal. This will be an interesting development to watch, but I cannot see Gate Five bankrupting Beyonce over a video game pull out, can you? Leave us your thoughts in the comments.
