Verizon LTE Outage Continues: Customers Angry Over Lack of Info

Yesterday we gave you news about the Verizon 4G LTE outage across the U.S. We asked readers to let us know if they were affected and it soon became evident that this was a major widespread problem as we had comments from across the country. It appears that the Verizon LTE outage still continues and many customers are getting angry over the lack of info given by Verizon.

We told yesterday how most people were still able to access 3G connectivity but not 4G, although this was not the case for everybody as quickly became clear from your comments. At that time Verizon had acknowledged a problem, which they said only affected some Thunderbolt customers. We later updated our original story to say that Verizon had issued a tweet, saying they were working to resolve the issue quickly. The latest news is that Verizon appears to have found the cause of the problem but there is still no estimated time for when things might be back to normal.

Over on PC World, Stephen Lawson of IDG News, informs us that Verizon issued a statement at 4:15 pm ET yesterday, part of which reads, “We have determined the cause of our issue and are working with our major vendors to restore connections. We expect to see the network restore on a market-by-market basis. Timing and additional details will be provided as they become available.” Verizon also cautioned that for now some people would only be able to access CDMA 1x, the slowest data network, which appeared to be the case for many of our readers. You can read the full press release over on Engadget here.

However the situation is starting to cause a lot of annoyance with Verizon customers as it’s now been many hours since the statement and there has been no further information given out by the Big Red. Over on Twitter, @Verizon Wireless shows many tweets coming in and frustration at the lack of updates from Verizon. One tweet reads, “11 more hours and still no 4G??!! And, no more twitter updates??!! Seriously? “Most reliable network…” MY ASS!” Another says, “Been without @VerizonWireless #4GLTE for over 12 hours now. Wondering why I ever left @TMobile.” There are also some tweets though, from customers who are saying that their 4G service has now resumed.

We’d like to hear whether your service has resumed yet and where you are. Are you a Verizon customer who feels angry at the lack of updated information coming from the company? Let us know with your comments.
