Apple iPhone 5 or Android: Measured Against 15 Handsets

We have lost count of the myriad of articles we’ve posted about the Apple iPhone 5 which we recently heard is likely to be released later rather than sooner. If you’re still wondering whether to wait for the iPhone 5 or choose an Android smartphone instead we have news of a roundup of the iPhone 5 measured against 15 Android handsets, which could really help you out.

We’ve published our own comparisons of the iPhone 5, based on what has been speculated so far, against other handsets such as the HTC Thunderbolt and Motorola Droid Bionic (which incidentally has now been removed from the Motorola website), but a really useful article over on Tom’s Guide by Paul Escallier has a look at the iPhone 5 vs. 15 different Androids, rounding them all up for a convenient comparison.

Just some of the handsets detailed are the HTC Sensation, LG Optimus 2X, Samsung Galaxy S II, HTC Droid Incredible 2 and Motorola Atrix 4G so it will really give you an idea of just what’s out there and also upcoming. It also gives an indication of just how much each phone is a threat to the iPhone 5 with different colors being used for threat levels. For the full rundown head to the Tom’s Guide link earlier where you can see just about every piece of information you’ll need to help you choose. Of course details of what is known and speculated so far for the iPhone 5 are also given and the article also poses the interesting question of whether in fact the iPhone 5 is obsolete before it’s even released?

This question is also reflected in an article over on Pop Herald which asks if the iPhone 5 is actually needed now that Android is the most popular smartphone OS. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think the iPhone 5 will be overshadowed by the impressive Android handsets that are already out and due to be released shortly? Maybe you think that nothing can take the place of an iPhone? Why not let us know with your comments.
