NOOK Color Updated To v1.2: Android Froyo 2.2 – Download It Now

The NOOK Color has been doing pretty well since it was released, there has been a few different things happening with it too such as it being reduced on eBay to $199 and it has even been overclocked to run at 1.1GHz. We have even seen one running basic Android 3.0 Honeycomb but without all of the functionality.

When it was running Honeycomb that was a hacked version that was done by the clever people of the XDA forums but now we have some further news about the OS that it runs on. The NOOK Color has been updated to v1.2 Android Froyo 2.2 and can be downloaded now which is a massive step forward making a great device even better.

We always knew that the device had a lot more power than its limitations would allow and now it has a chance to show off its full potential. We learned of this through BGR’s Todd Haselton where he has reported on some of the new functionality that we can expect to see from the device.

One thing that will be quite a talking point is that it will have Adobe Flash player support and another is quite an interesting one, a new section to the device NOOK Friends beta. This is a social network for sharing books, which we think is a great idea. What’s even better about this whole situation is that Barnes & Noble are listening to their customers and fulfilling their needs.
