We’ve been keeping our readers informed with developments surrounding the HTC Droid Incredible 2 for Verizon and only recently gave news of a rumored release date and price. Well, today the release news is official and it seems we were correct on both counts.
We also looked at the Droid Incredible 2 vs. the Samsung Galaxy S II, another very impressive upcoming handset, and as a recap specs for the Incredible 2 include a 4-inch Super LCD WVGA display, 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. There’s also a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM 8655 processor, 1450mAh battery, 4GB storage and 768MB of RAM, all running on the Android 2.2 operating system. It’s an impressive handset but does lack LTE, which may be a drawback for some.
News of the official release confirmation comes to us from Donald Melanson over on Engadget and you can also see the full press release there. The release date is April 28, so in fact only 2 more days to wait, and the price is $199.99 on the usual two-year contract. Data plan details can also be seen on the press release at the Engadget link above. Meanwhile over on Cnet, Don Reisinger reminds us that this is a global smartphone and can be used in more than 200 countries.
Are you heading out on Thursday to purchase the Droid Incredible 2, or maybe you’d rather buy a 4G capable phone, such as the Nexus S 4G on Sprint, or the upcoming HTC Sensation? Let us know your thoughts on this.
