Google Nexus S 4G Official Release Date: May 8 on Sprint

We’ve been closely following developments of the Google Nexus S 4G for Sprint and recently told how the release was one step closer. Now we’ve heard official news of the release date and it’s May 8 for those of you who are waiting.

Back in March we told how this Android handset was coming to Sprint with 4G and running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, with fully integrated Google Voice. This smartphone has a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 1GHz processor and a 5-megapixel rear camera with front webcam and also NFC (near-field communication) capability. We then informed you when pre-orders became available at Best Buy and the good news today is there’s not much longer to wait.

The news came to us from Zach Epstein over on BGR where you can also see the press release from Google and Samsung. Available on May 8 the Nexus S 4G price is $199.99 on the usual two-year contract. Other features include 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot capability, 16GB internal memory, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and integrated GPS. Details of data plans can also be seen on the press release at the BGR link above.
