LG G2x Gingerbread OS Update: Android 2.3 Soon Say T-Mobile

Earlier today we gave you a review roundup of the impressive LG G2x handset and one of the only drawbacks seemed to be that it has the Android 2.2 operating system rather than the most recent OS, Android 2.3, Gingerbread. However we now hear that the LG G2x Gingerbread update may be coming soon, and that’s according to T-Mobile itself.

We told how it would be a shame to let the fact that the G2x wasn’t yet running Gingerbread put you off buying this latest smartphone on T-Mobile, as we felt it would not be too long coming and that seems to be backed up with today’s news. TMO News report that when a new G2x user commented on Twitter about how much they loved their G2x but missed Gingerbread, T-Mobile was quick to respond.

T-Mobile tweeted back, “Gingerbread is coming to the G2x soon. You won’t have to wait long.” Now, coming from T-Mobile we’d say that’s very promising news indeed for those of you who have already purchased the G2x and are waiting for Gingerbread, or indeed those of you who may have been deterred from making a purchase as it was without Gingerbread. We reckon that after making such a public statement T-Mobile and LG will cough up the goods pretty shortly so get ready for Gingerbread!

Over on Unwired View, sourced from Phandroid, Wen explains why it would be possible for T-Mobile to deliver Gingerbread so soon and it is because the phone is pure Android, an unthemed version, which means software problems are avoidable.
