Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Almost Ready To Play On O2

We have some encouraging news for O2 users who want to get their hands on Sony Ericsson’s latest smartphone, the Xperia Play. The Playstation Phone as it has been dubbed by some, is due out very soon after the initial delay because of bugs.

The Xperia Play is one of Sony Ericsson’s flagship phones launched, the others being the Arc and Neo. The Play was the most hyped smartphone out of the trio, because of its unique gaming capabilities. O2’s planned release date of April 1st along with the other major operators look a setback after they discovered bug’s in the phones software, as reported by Cnet.

O2 has been keeping consumers updated in blog posts, announcing that they had been running tests on the software. The current status on the Xperia Play is “nearly ready”, with a likely target of before May. The head of O2’s testing team Stuart Hibberd pointed out that there were “a lot of bugs” that would have stopped customers having a great experience on the Play, it has been reported by T3.

Unfortunately we can still not pin down an exact release date for the Play but if O2 are to be trusted by their comments we should be seeing it before the month is up. O2 users must be desperate to get their paws on the Play’s gaming pad and sweet Gingerbread. Are you an O2 customer who has been frustrated by the smartphone’s delay? If so tell us in the comments.
