SNES Goes Handheld: Retro Console Now Mobile!

We have seen some pretty sweet devices in recent times, some of them include the iTable, the speakers in your sneakers, a Hyper Touch Guitar and of course the original Nintendo console that was customized seeing the old machine turned into a high flying PC with a brand new paintjob.

Now we have some exciting news that for anyone who enjoyed playing on the Super Nintendo, the SNES is going handheld, the retro console is now mobile! There are countless emulators out there that allow you to play SNES games on your PC but are they enough? Apparently not as the new handheld version will be hitting the US this summer as informed by IGN.

Many of you will remember classic titles such as The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past (one of my favorite games ever), Bomberman, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country and Street Racer. To be honest I could probably name around 20 games that I would look forward to playing on the move on the SNES and I am sure you could too.

The name of the console is the SupaBoy, it has been developed and made by a company called Hyperkin and from the above image you can see that it basically looks like a thick controller with a screen. Only it can do more, notice on the front, beneath the D-Pad and the classic X, Y, A and B buttons there are slots to insert controllers… In other words, this bad boy doubles up as a static console too allowing you to hook it up to a TV, very clever.

What retro games are you looking forward to playing on the 3.5” screen on the move? Let us know in the comments section below.
