We at OSM have seen various different scams over the last few months, the ones that hit Facebook are generally trying to affect your computer with Malware. One of these nasties that reared its ugly head was the Charlie Sheen death hoax but there are others that are using different aspects of Facebook to trick people into clicking on them.
Whilst the Facebook chat problems seem to have been nipped in the bud, there are a number of others that are still pretty potent and now there’s a new one. This is the first time that I have personally seen a scam that is using a brand or popular movie to suck you in! So this is a warning about the new Twilight game on Facebook, it comes loaded with Malware so leave it well alone.
We learned of this report through allfacebook.com’s Julie D.Andrews where she has compiled an article that informs us of who has identified this threat. Sophos are the guys that have picked this up properly and you can see what they think about it on this link.
The scammers are relying on the fact that this is a very popular series of movies and that some people who are unaware of the threats of Facebook. That is why we try and tell you about them, if however you have already jumped in with both feet and clicked on this guy, use this link that tells you how to remove it from your profile. Also there’s a video at the bottom of the article that tells you how to get rid of it.
