“Kindle With Special Offers” Available In US

Amazon’s Kindle just got a little cheaper as it is being offered in a special deal which sees it being partly funded by advertising.

As always there is a catch and this one is that your Kindle comes complete with advertising. Advertisements will be displayed at the bottom of the Kindle’s home screen, with sponsored screensavers from companies including Buick, Olay and Visa being displayed according to Cnet. The bonus to the advertising plague is that you will have extra change in your pocket after buying your new Kindle.

Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos has reiterated his desire to make the Kindle affordable to all and this new offering will make that wish more of a reality. The special offer is being trialled in the US first, and if it is a success will surely be introduced over here to the UK, as reported by T3. The new model will cost $114 (£70), which gives a saving of $25 (£15), if you were going to buy the standard Kindle.

Consumers will be able to get their hands on the new e-book reader from 3rd May, with pre-orders being taken now. If you could get a £70 Kindle but have to pay the price of pesky advertisements, would you do it? Leave us your thoughts on Amazon’s new offering and leave us a comment if you will go for it.
