HTC Sensation / Pyramid: Processor Official – More News Today?

Many people are getting pretty excited about the HTC Sensation /Pyramid and we’re hoping to find out more news about the handset very soon. This dual-core, 4G beast, first known as the Pyramid, is headed in the US to T-Mobile and today we’ve heard confirmation about the Qualcomm processor.

As a brief recap this handset is believed to have a 1.2GHZ processor, 4.3-inch qHD display, 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facer. There’s also thought to be 768MB of RAM and of course that 4G capability. Initial reports spoke of the phone running on Android 3.0 Honeycomb, which we felt was highly unlikely and then there was news that it would run on Android 2.4. The initial release date was put at May but Android 2.4, dubbed Ice Cream is not though to be due for release until June. On top of all that it’s a pretty sleek and impressive-looking design.

We also told about an HTC event in the UK today, set for 1:30pm local time and recently there was news that the HTC Sensation aka Pyramid, would be launched at that event and this was also when we heard the handset would now be called the HTC Sensation rather than Pyramid. There’s still a possibility though that it will maybe have different names for different regions and that’s something we may hear more on later today.

We’ve also heard today from Vlad Savov over on Engadget that the processor has been officially announced by a Qualcomm tweet in Germany telling of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.2GHz dual-core CPU confirmation. You can also see a video about the dual-core processor at the Engadget link above. Seeing as the phone hasn’t even been made official by HTC yet, Qualcomm has been pretty quick to announce its association. We’ll be following news from the HTC event later today and hope to hear much more about this handset, which has a lot of people talking.
