Droid Bionic vs HTC Sensation vs Samsung Galaxy S II: Your Vote?
Since the CES show back in January which to many seems like a lifetime ago, we have reported on news from the Mobile World Congress back in February and the CTIA event just recently. Many gadgets have come out of the closet and have either been released or just about to be. Today during a HTC event in London, amongst other devices, yet another smartphone has been announced, the Sensation or Sensation 4G as it will be known in America.
We wanted to give you a comparison between what will end up being 3 big contenders, the Droid Bionic and Samsung Galaxy S II, as well as news from Debbie here at OSM reporting on the new Sensation.

Before we start, we have to say that all 3 handsets are packing some pretty hard punches when it comes to specifications and of course at the end of the day it depends what features and purpose you want from your phone, is it say a phone for business or personal use, price is a key factor and how long are you prepared to wait for your phone.
If we kick off by looking at the Droid Bionic from Motorola running on Verizon’s speedy 4G LTE network, the first thing to report on is the lack of solid release date although rumor has it, that it should touch down on April 21st. In terms of specifications, the Bionic includes a 4.3-inch display which at times has been compared to Apple’s popular iPhone with its screen resolution, 1GHz dual-core processor which seems to be one of the talking points of this phone. As well as this the handset will be running on Android’s 2.2 Froyo (some would find this disappointing) includes 512MB of DDR2 RAM, 8 megapixel rear camera with 0.3 megapixel front facing with HD video recording and so on. Again until announced, we only have Amazon’s price to go on of $149.99 with a new 2 year Verizon contract or a one off price of $599.99.

Moving on nicely to the second rival being that of the HTC Sensation, the newest of the announcements. Initially thought to be named the HTC Pyramid, we can tell you that the HTC will be known as the Sensation and with 4G for the U.S. Again matching the Bionic, the Sensation will include a 4.3-inch 960 x 540 resolution screen, running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, 768MB of RAM, Sense 3.0, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4GB of internal memory, 8GB memory, 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 1.2 megapixel front camera and so on. In terms of release we only have the UK and European market to go on with a release of sometime mid May with the U.S. waiting a little longer and unfortunately we have no price to speak of.

Last but certainly not least is the Samsung Galaxy S II which again will include a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, the first for Samsung. It will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will include a 1.2GHz which has just been upgraded and will match the HTC Sensation. The Samsung will incorporate a 8 megapixel rear camera with the benefit of 1080p video playback, gaming and so on. In terms of release apart from the UK market being able to pick their handset up from May 1st we are still in the dark as to an official date for the U.S. market. Prices have been varied from Play.com retailing the phone for $499.99 SIM free with Clove.co.uk listing the phone on their pre-order page for £528.00.
With so much to take in and all 3 offering at times the same specifications, it is no doubt difficult to make a decision, but what is your gut feeling telling you? Let us know which one gets your vote?
