iPad 2 on Verizon 3G Problem: Apple Aware and Fix on Way

The Apple iPad 2 has been a huge hit since its release last month but not without it’s share of problems too, such as camera issues and Facetime freezing. Two days ago we also told of another problem, this time specific only to owners of the Wi-Fi + 3G version iPad 2 on Verizon. However we have now heard that Apple has acknowledged the issue and that a fix is on the way.

We reported that when some Verizon iPad 2 owners were trying to reactivate 3G connectivity after switching it off, they first had to reboot their devices and it wasn’t clear whether this was a problem with Verizon’s network or a hardware issue. Apple has now issued a statement, according to Ina Fried over on All Things Digital, which reads, “We are aware that a small number of iPad 2 customers have experienced connectivity issues with the Verizon 3G network and we are investigating it.” We told how people were turning to the Apple forums in droves to discuss this problem, so the fact that Apple has now acknowledged that some people are suffering connectivity issues, may help to soften people’s annoyance.

Apparently an iOS software update is currently being worked on, which is hoped will fix this issue and should be coming shortly. If none of this has put you off purchasing an iPad 2 then we recently told how shipping times were becoming much shorter so to find out more about the iPad head to Apple.com, or for online orders to the Apple Store here. Are you a Verizon customer who has noticed this 3G connectivity problem? What are your thoughts about Apple’s response? Why not let us know with your comments.

I still have until May 8 to return it to Best Buy – if there is not a fix by then – it goes back.
