Samsung Droid Charge Multimedia Desktop Dock: Imminent Release

Along with many other smartphones coming to market is that of the new Samsung Droid Charge which here at OSM has been covered on a handful of occasions including a post we covered at the beginning of this month in relation to this and the HTC Droid Incredible 2 pricing structure. The newest handset to the Samsung range has been rumored to be making its entrance sometime this month, well actually the initial release date of the 7th April has been and gone, but if a recent leaked photo of a new Charge accessory is anything to go by, then it may not be too far away.

The accessory in the form of a new multimedia desktop dock has been spotted with the wording “a convenient media player, and speakerphone – plus charge your handset and spare battery using the integrated battery charger behind the docking station.”

As phandroid.com quite rightly pointed out, HTC Thunderbolt accessories started to find their way to stores a good month before its final official release, so until anything becomes more solid, just take this as speculation. Teckmunch.com were again not convinced by this latest news, as the leaked information is clearly missing out any “video output” feature.

In relation to other specs, the Droid Charge will include a 4.3-inch Super Amoled Plus display, powered by Android 2.2, 8 megapixel rear camera with 1.3 to the front, proximity sensor, auto focus, social networking accessibility, connectivity with WiFi and Bluetooth and running on the speedy 4G LTE network.

If we revert back to one of our previous posts mentioned in the first paragraph, we can see that the Droid Charge is priced in the region of $299.

What are your thoughts on Samsung’s new offering? Are you tempted, and is the news of a multimedia desktop dock a plus side to your decision?
