T-Mobile G2x & Sidekick 4G Release: Date & Price Confirmed

A few hours can see big changes in the tech world. It was only earlier today we told of a rumored release date for the T-Mobile G2x in the US of April 15, which came from a leaked document. Now only hours later we have official news of a release date and price for the G2x from LG and also for the Sidekick 4G from Samsung, also coming to T-Mobile.

The T-Mobile G2x is the first dual-core handset for T-mobile and is looking impressive with pretty good specs. The official release date has now been confirmed as April 15 for online orders or April 20 at retail outlets. The price will be $199.99, after taking into account a $50 mail-in rebate, on a 2-year contract. For an Android dual-core 4G capable phone with 4-inch capacitive WVGA display, 8-megapixel rear camera with 1080p HD video recording and a 3-megapixel front-facer, this seems a reasonable price.

The news came to us from Vlad Savov over on Engadget from the T-Mobile Twitter account and we also have a confirmed release date and price for the Sidekick 4G. Only a few days ago we told how the Sidekick had a rumored release date, leaked from RadioShack, of April 20. This date is now official and the price will be $100 on contract. The Sidekick 4G is another Android 4G handset, this time with a 3.5-inch touchscreen, 1GHz processor and QWERTY keyboard.

You can see the T-Mobile G2x product page at T-Mobile here where it is listed as ‘coming soon’ and the Sidekick 4G product page here. Will you be heading out to get your hands on either of these smartphones? Let us know with your comments.
