iPhone 5: WWDC No Show But Apple Media June Event Rumored

Over the last few months speculation has been growing as to when we see the elusive iPhone 5 from Apple. Here at OSM we have spoken about possible features, price, name and of course release date. Initially many of us thought the handset would make its entrance at the WWDC in June with a release sometime in the summer, but further reports given have indicated otherwise. The last rumor was of a launch late September next year.

But is this all about to change yet again? According to knowyourmobile.com via ETNews, suggestions have been made that the iPhone 5 will in fact be showcased during the fourth week of June at a separate Apple event hosted by CEO Steve Jobs. As well as the Korean site ETNews reporting this, another 2 networks SK Telecom and KT have also made reference to the same news, with additional information saying that they will be carrying the handset.

If we revert back to the WWDC event taking place in June, rumor has it from Gizmocrunch.com that Apple will be ploughing their hard work into a software only update, in fact iOS 5 and Mac OS X Lion.

What are your thoughts on today’s iPhone 5 news? Is it rumor or is there some truth in it? Here at OSM we have questioned as to why Korean networks will be the first to carry the handset as this goes against previous Apple launches?
