WrestleMania 27 Using Social Media: Success From This Or “The Rock”

More and more individuals, small companies and the larger organisations are taking on social media in a bid to increase their circle of friends, customer base and of course sales revenue. In recent weeks, we have spoken about how the use of the internet is increasing by the day as well as more of you turning to social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

Even the bigger entertainment organisations such as American wrestling (WWE) are taking them on board. In an interesting article over at Crunchgear, the latest WrestleMania which has just taken over from last year’s WrestleMania 26 is hoping that the inclusion of such sites will now spill out to a much wider audience in terms of viewers. Last year’s 26 it seems, was deemed a little disappointing in terms of under one million pay per view buys seen globally.

In order to get those all important views up to the WWE’s goal of one million worldwide buys, the use of Facebook is paramount to achieve this. As it stands some 4.9 million “Likes” have been seen on the site. Added to the excitement this year, The Rock has made his return with Jersey Shore’s Snooki, so as Crunchgear said, it will be difficult to gauge the increase in pay per view buys.

So it just leaves the question of, will social media or the come back of The Rock play an important part towards the increase in user numbers? Check out more on WrestleMania 27 here.
