The Masters 2011 Golf: Official iPhone App & iPad App

The Masters 2011 Golf from Augusta National begins Thursday April 7 through Sunday April 10, with Round 1 and live coverage starting on Thursday, although practice rounds start today, April 4. Golfing enthusiasts around the world will be waiting to see if Phil Mickelson, last year’s victor, can retain his title and you don’t have to miss a thing with the official iPhone app and also an iPad app.

We know there’s nothing many of you would like more than to stop everything from Thursday and watch every moment of one of the world’s top golfing tournaments, but even if you can’t do that you can keep up-to-date with the official Masters 2011 apps.

The Masters Golf Tournament app can be found at the iTunes link here, for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad compatible with iOS 4.0 or later and is free, offering live video and live scoring. The latest version (3.0) of this app has just been updated on March 30 and offers five channels of streaming videos, live updates, push notifications, player press conferences and more and also includes coverage of Wednesday’s Par 3 contest. We should point out that the iTunes description states that live video is available to view in the US only.

There’s also a Masters Golf Tournament iPad app which is priced at $1.99 and was last updated yesterday. This requires iOS 4.0 or later and includes live scoring, updates, on-demand video highlights and features, course overview and news coverage plus more besides. Whichever app you choose should give you all you need to keep up with all the action. Again video will only be able to be viewed in the US. You can also head to the official Masters 2011 website here for more. Will you be downloading either of these apps? Let us know with your comments.
