Sony Ericsson X10 Mini: Revamped Handset Spotted (SK17i)

Sony has been pretty busy in the cell phone market in recent times. One of the major handsets that has been released is the Xperia Play, the first ever PlayStation certified phone as well as Xperia ARC. Sony Ericsson look to be trying to gain back some of the market share that they may have lost in recent times to Apple and Android as there’s another handset that has been seen.

This one was reported on by Engadget’s Richard Lai and it’s the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini where a revamped handset has been spotted in China. The device has been given the name SK17i or the codename of ‘Mango’ and from the image below you can see that it’s seemingly running Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Over at Phandroid, their author Quentyn Kennemer has also thrown in a report on the little smartphone saying that Sony hasn’t forgotten one of their customer groups. Kennemer says that Sony is adhering to the customers who prefer a smaller device with a keyboard.

Interestingly Sony don’t seem to be taking the opportunity to add any major changes aesthetically to their titchy cell phone from its predecessor but most are hoping for a slightly larger screen (3”) and better innards for their potential device. What do you think of the new Sony Ericsson device and what’s with Mango? Why do these big companies keep going with fruity names for their device codenames? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
