Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY: Official Release, 60 Games Included

After a long wait and a lot of rumor and speculation, Sony has finally decided to release its Xperia PLAY smartphone to its patient followers.

But before we all go rushing down to our local store to buy one, its worth noting that at the moment the device is only available in 11 markets with another 6 being introduced within the next 2 weeks. According to BGR the “PlayStation Phone” as it has been known is being stacked on the shelves across the U.K., Germany, Russia and Hong Kong, with another 7 markets joining the launch across the globe.

For the U.S. market however a spring launch is planned with Verizon Wireless taking the reins. In addition to the PLAY‘s release, Sony has announced that 60 games including some top titles will accompany the device.

Games such as Need for Speed, Assassins Creed Altairs Chronicles HD, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell and N.O.V.A.2 will be added to the line up. As Phones Review also confirm, there will be 6 pre-installed games with titles such as FIFA 10, Sims 3 and Crash Bandicoot.

So it would seem that the Sony Xperia PLAY smartphone covers all bases. With a high spec touchscreen handset covering all the phone duties and a slide-out pad for PSP style game play, what more could you ask for?
