Facebook Worth $234 Billion By 2015: Is This Possible?

At OSM we like to keep you up to date on all current news surrounding social networking giant Facebook, in previous posts we have talked about how the company has achieved its highest value ever, as the site has more than 1 million visitors a day we expect this value to increase dramatically.

In the next few years the social network could see its valuation more than treble, currently it’s worth roughly $85 billion this would seem like loose change if predictions are correct and Facebook becomes worth more than $234 billion by 2015.

In this post from The Economic Times an analysis from brokerage firm Wedbush Securities claims that this sum could be easily achievable, Lou Kerner who works for the company which analyzes the valuations of private companies said “by 2015 Facebook will earn $11 billion on $22 billion and have a market value of $234 billion”.

This huge valuation is thought to be possible due to the increasing popularity of the social networking site, this popularity has broadened the companies margins by as much as 50 percent and Kerner feels this will get the company a bigger share of the global ad market.

As we have seen sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn grow in popularity in the last few years we believe that valuations like this may hold some strength, $234 billion is a lot of money and even if this figure is not achieved we still expect that Facebook will be one of the biggest companies in the world.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think Facebook will be worth this much in four years time?
