Sony Xperia Play: Vodafone & Three Join O2 Delaying UK

Sony Ericsson has been very busy in recent times preparing their latest mobile handset that was set to be launching on April 1st in the UK. This is the first ever PlayStation certified mobile phone that will have Sony fans all over the world excited at the prospect of combining a cell phone with a handheld gaming device.

Last week we reported on how O2 were delaying the launch of the Xperia Play because of some glitches that they had found in the OS, we have now heard some more bad news. The Sony Xperia Play on Vodafone & Three joins O2 in delaying the UK launch. Bad news if you were counting on picking up from any of these networks or what?

We first learned of this news through an article published over on PRNews by Tina Chubb, she says in her report that Vodafone sent out a customer notice on Wednesday evening explaining that they will not be able to provide them with their orders. She also explains that Sony Ericsson announced and confirmed that a ‘freight issue’ may possibly impact the number of Xperia handsets that would enter the UK in time for the launch.

The much anticipated gaming cell phone from Sony looks like the only mobile operating network that will be offering the device on launch day is Orange as reported by VG247. This is a real shame as we are sure there were lots of users patiently waiting for the Xperia Play.

For those of you who pre-ordered the device with Vodafone, have you received your notification? Will you wait out the delay to get your hands on the device? Let us know in the comments section below.
