Apple iPad 2 Stock Tracking: How to Find One

If you’re one of the many people trying to track down an Apple iPad 2, you’re not alone. Many people are trying to get their hands on one of these coveted tablets but exactly what is the best way to find one? We’ve previously told how stores are sold out, both in the U.S. and overseas, and how online orders are taking many weeks.

We also told recently about how the demand for the iPad 2 had been so high that previous sales forecasts were being scrapped with one analyst predicting sales of 30 million units for 2011. Stores are having fresh stock delivered intermittently but how do you know where your best chances of getting the iPad 2 are. This is where an article on Business Insider, sourced form WonderHowTo, is proving extremely useful.

It’s an extremely comprehensive report but we’ll attempt to sum up the key points for you. Thankfully many stores have come up with iPad 2 tracking so you can see when they’re at a store near you. There is a caution though that if you track one in your location you may not be able to put it on hold due to the high demand and also some stores getting stock may have them reserved for pre-orders. Hit the links for any of the tracking services listed.

Best Buy is offering an inventory tracker and apparently the best time to check is in the morning when it’s most often updated. You’ll be offered a list of different models and simply enter your zip code to find your nearest availability. Target has Christian Radu’s iPad 2 Scanner and this one works much the same way and will show you the ten nearest stores and if they have iPad 2 availability.

Walmart has two different methods although Business Insider notes that the results are a bit patchy and not always reliable. Even after you’ve performed your search you are still informed that availability and prices etc. may vary between stores. If you still want to try though there’s the tracking option here or alternatively Walmart’s Apple iPad 2 page for a Check Availability page but it’s probably also best to call the store you’re heading to first.

Another tracker is the iPad 2 Locator which checks Radio Shack and also Target stores and will also be adding Walmart and Best Buy at some point and this is particularly convenient as it searches all models without you having to specify first. There are other alternatives, such as auction sites, or of course you could just order online through the Apple Store online, and for even more information head to the Business Insider link above.

I used iPad2tracker.com to find my iPad 2. It’s just like the sites mentioned in the article, but faster and includes available online stock too.
