Official Motorola Xoom UK Release: Coming April and Price

Here at OSM we’ve noted all the developments of the Motorola Xoom tablet device, both before and after its release in the U.S. and we know that many people have been waiting for official news of the Motorola Xoom U.K. release. Well, we have good news for you as we can tell you that the Xoom is coming in April and we also have price details.

At the beginning of March we brought you some news on the Xoom for the UK and early pricing but this time round the news is direct from Motorola. In case you haven’t yet heard about this impressive tablet, it has a 10.1-inch display, a 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 5-megapixel camera and 2-megapixel web cam and video capture of 720p. There’s also 32GB memory and it all runs on the Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system, the first designed specifically for tablets.

The official news from Motorola came to us from Vlad Savov over on Engadget, and according to the horse’s mouth the Xoom will arrive in the UK next week with Carphone Warehouse, Dixons, Currys and PC World, all being specifically mentioned. Pricing is not confirmed but Savov notes there are “strong indications” to believe that the WiFi-only version will be £500 while the 3G version will set you back £600 but we cannot yet confirm which of these may be coming to the UK next week, although it could be both.

If you want to find out more about the Motorola Xoom check out the official product page on the Motorola UK site here. It does seem a shame that Motorola didn’t get the Xoom released in the UK before the Apple iPad 2 arrived last week but there are still plenty of people who will want this Android Honeycomb tablet. Tell us if you’re intending to purchase the Motorola Xoom as soon as it’s released in the UK and which model you’re hoping to buy?

I've had a WiFi one on pre-order since it first appeared on Dixons' website. I'll be pretty narked if they release it for less than I paid for all those weeks ago especially given that Dixons took my money immediately!

Debbie, the release date and price has been out many weeks now, the only 'new' and relevant information you should be posting is the fact that 'early April' has now slipped to mid April (late April in my book 19th !). Still, we shall see.

Unless you're living in some kind of time warp I'm fairly certain that "next week" doesn't include April 19th. In fact the release is now earlier than Dixons/PC World's original estimate of April 9th.

e-mail received from TCW last week telling me my pre-order was delayed till 19th April. Haven't heard any change to that so this all seems a bit confused.

I had a call from CW telling me delivery on my pre-order would be April 19th so maybe its the wifi only version through PC world and currys coming through next week? as far as I am aware all the supplying stores will refund price differences if Motorola announce lower selling prices at launch.
