Best Buy Connect 4G Mobile Broadband is Available Now

There’s some good news today for customers of Best Buy in the U.S., because with Best Buy Connect, the company’s mobile broadband service, they will now be able to sign up for 4G service. The Best Buy Connect 4G service is available through an arrangement with Clearwire.

Customers that purchase any one of 23 supported laptops from Best Buy will have the option of the 4G connectivity data service. Laptops involved are from many different makers such as Samsung, Dell, HP, Sony and more and the Connect 4G service will give you support and service, according to Todd Haselton over on BGR. You can choose to pay $45 monthly on a two-year contract, or on a month-by-month basis and that will provide you with unlimited access to the 4G network.

The bonus with the two-year-contract though, is that Best Buy will then waive the $35 activation fee and you’ll also get a $150 discount off selected items. The Best Buy 4G service is available across the country but of course you’ll only get WiMAX 4G network access if you are in one of the 70 regions where Clearwire provides it. However at present that covers some 270 million people so this service is open to many of you.

At some point Best Buy will be offering LightSquared’s 4G LTE service too but there’s no mention yet on when that will be available. You can check out the full Best Buy press release at the BGR link above. Meanwhile if you want to find out if you’re in one of the areas covered by Clearwire’s 4G service head to their website here, where you can enter your zip code to find out.
