WWDC 2011: Apple Focus On Software – New iPhone 5 Appearance?

Does anyone remember what happened at last year’s WWDC conference? That’s right, when Steve Jobs took to the stage he revealed the iPhone 4 to a stunned audience and we are wondering if at WWDC 2011 where Apple are looking to focus on Software will the new iPhone 5 make an appearance?

Apple is pretty secretive about the development of their hardware and software, take for instance the new Thunderbolt peripheral… Nobody saw that coming. Apple also continued to revolutionize the tablet PC market in recent times by unleashing their new beast the iPad 2 which we are certain will continue the success of its predecessor.

On the Apple developer’s page, they have added a large image with the actual dates that they will run it, June 6th-10th in San Francisco Moscone West. They have some text on the image that says to “Join us for a preview of the future of iOS and Mac OSX”.

Whilst Apple has made it clear that it’s for Software only it can’t stop the entire Internet world from trying to guess if the iPhone 5/4G will be making an appearance and trying to second guess the specs that it may have within its shell. Adding to the confusion check out this article over on 9to5mac.com where they are saying that the iPhone 5 might not be with us until 2012 although this would go against Apple’s seemingly strict annual release dates.

Some of the ones we have seen so far are almost pleading for dual-core processing, DDR RAM and a bigger screen. Personally, if anything does come out I think that the device will have the same ARM Cortex A5 chip as the new iPad 2 and similar specs with perhaps some kind of Thunderbolt connection for it. Let’s be honest about it through, nobody really knows and will have no idea until June. We may even see the device in white but don’t hold your breath on that one.

From a Software perspective, we will more than likely get a glimpse of the new iOS 5 which keeps on getting reports written about it and a new OS for Macs as they say in the image. What are your expectations from a software perspective?

Do you think we will see the iPhone 5 and what specs would you like to see it have? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
