Nintendo 3DS: Early “Crashing” Issues Reported, Are You Affected?

One of the most highly sought after devices to come out of this year so far is of course the Nintendo 3DS which officially released on the 25th in the UK and the 27th in the US. No doubt many of you had been waiting for what probably seemed like a lifetime for the device to finally launch, and although initial reports for the device have been good up until now, there is worrying news today that could be affecting a huge number of you.

Alan over at PR News has spoken this morning of a problem which is causing the console to keep crashing. A “Black screen of death” issue as he stated, is proving to be a problem when a message (seen below) automatically appears on the screen half way through a game telling you, the user to press down the power button and reboot your device.

Although you may be sitting there, as we all do from time to time, thinking that the problem just lies with you and that you’ve picked up a duff console, then rest assured, its not. Over at Digital Spy, NeoGaf and AVForum, you will see that the problem is spreading amongst gamers. Many of you have been turning to these sites to voice your concerns and disappointment. As Alan stated, the only way to get past this glitch if you want to call it that, is to turn off the power to reboot the console or failing that, format the SD card to 32-FAT format.

Tell us firstly if you have picked up a 3DS, and if so are you experiencing such a problem? Give us your thoughts, we would be interested to hear how many of you are affected.
