HTC Thunderbolt Android 2.3 Coming In Q2: More Delays?

For many just over a week ago, brought a huge sigh of relief when the HTC Thunderbolt finally launched after countless release delays. The handset being the first to step out with Verizon’s 4G LTE speedy network, has endured a small amount of teething problems and disappointment, although on the whole many of you are doubt pleased with your purchase.

If we put aside the problems of sending and receiving of text messages and the 1400 mAh battery‘s juice life being affected due to the 4G LTE network, then good news today is hoped to make up for these problems. Bring on the updated Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS which is now reported to be making its way to the handset.

According to wirelessgoodness.com via Droid Life, the Thunderbolt will be receiving the update from its current Android 2.2 Froyo sometime in the not so distant future, in fact in the spring! As we go into a new month in the next few days, that really doesn’t seem too long to wait. News comes as an unnamed person who currently purchased a Thunderbolt, has received an email from HTC implying that Gingerbread was indeed on the way.

As electronista.com stated, the benefits of having the Gingerbread implemented, will include support for its front camera in terms of apps, built in voice over IP calling, WebM support and so on.

Are you a Thunderbolt owner? What are your thoughts on the new operating system coming?
