Apple iPad 2 Accessory in Real Wood: Classy Miniot Cover

Since the Apple iPad 2 was launched in the U.S. we’ve brought you the news about the Smart Cover designed especially for this tablet, which affixes to the iPad 2 with magnets. We also gave you details of a teardown on the Smart Cover to show exactly how it works. Now we have details of another cover for the iPad 2 to share with you, another magnetic cover but this time in real wood.

This really is a beautiful and at the same time useful item, and well worth spending that bit extra on in our opinion. The design is similar to that of the Smart Cover but instead of rolling into a triangular shaped prop, is more of a cylinder shape. It can then be used to hold up your iPad 2, either in portrait or 2 landscape positions but the really striking part of the design is that it’s made out of one piece of cherry wood.

It was brought to our attention by Vlad Savov over on Engadget and comes from a Dutch company called Miniot with a price of €50 or $69 and you can see a video of the Miniot Cover in action below this story. Over on 9to5 Mac there’s another look at the Miniot Cover, which informs us that you can also get this cover engraved for free from Miniot’s online store.

The iPad 2 saw its international release today but already we’ve seen signs of there not being enough to go around so if you haven’t got your hands on your iPad 2 yet, you might want to get the Miniot cover while you wait!
