Apple iPad 2 Freezing Issue: Facetime Suffers, Are You Affected?

Apple’s next generation iPad or iPad 2 as its officially known, has experienced its fair share of good and bad comments since its arrival 2 weeks ago. Leading up to its release, the tablet had been a huge topic of discussion for some time within the tech world with rumored specs and prices, and all became clear when CEO Steve Jobs announced details.

One of the many features included on the new slate is that of FaceTime and PhotoBooth. As Apple fans will know already, FaceTime is not a new concept, its been an inclusion on the iPhone 4 for some time. It enables users to interact with others through video conferencing, and with the front and rear cameras on the iPad 2 you can see who’s in front and behind the device.

But although this is a pretty fantastic add-on, some of you have been complaining about subsequent freezing issues surrounding the FaceTime video chat feature, which in turn causes the image to crash. According to AppleInsider, users of the new iPad 2 have been taking to Apple’s support forums to voice their opinions and concerns. Some have stated that the problem rectifies itself when switching the device off and then back on, something of which has been backed up from a Verizon Store Manager in NYC, others have taken more drastic measures and enlisted the help of a full software restore.

As our source directly above has reported, one Apple iPad 2 user said, “When I opened up FaceTime the first time, the camera was working fine, but now whenever I open it up, it just shows a still image from when I left. How can I fix it?”

Unfortunately this is not the first time that freezing problems have been stated with Apple devices, only just recently, the new MacBook Pro 15 and 17-inch models were suffering from overheating and freezing problems due to multiple programmes being run at the same time, and as well as this Apple TV have had users complaining of flickering screens.

Give us your thoughts? Have or are you experiencing problems with your FaceTime freezing?

I have had this issue – switching on and off resolved it.
