LG G2x 4G Official: First Dual-Core for T-Mobile & Spring release

You may previously have heard of the LG Optimus 2X, which got some very positive press and we’ve previously told how for the U.S release this phone will now be called the LG G2x and how it was rumored to be coming to T-Mobile. The news is now official and we shall see the T-Mobile G2x released later this spring, so we haven’t got too much longer to wait.

The G2x is one of the latest wave of dual-core processor phones, with other recent examples being the Motorola Atrix 4G for AT&T and also the upcoming Motorola Droid Bionic on Verizon and it’s the first dual-core smartphone for T-Mobile. The G2x is an Android smartphone featuring a 4-inch display and 8-megapixel camera. Back when we were still calling it the Optimus 2X we gave you news of a review, looked at its performance in tests against the Motorola Atrix 4G and included it in our roundup of some of the best LG phones and many people have had their eyes peeled waiting for its U.S. release.

The official release news comes to us from Richard Lai over on Engadget, with the actual release date not confirmed so rumors of it coming on April 20 could still prove accurate. It will also be the first smartphone to come with the Tegra Zone pre-loaded and it’s also a 4G phone so this should impress many people especially those who like to use their phones for gaming and entertainment. It will come pre-loaded with Need for Speed SHIFT HD, T-Mobile TV, Qik T-Mobile video chat and more. You can see the full press release at the Engadget link above and the phone will be available at T-Mobile retail stores and at T-Mobile online.

You can find out more about the LG G2x at the official product page on T-Mobile here where it now appears as ‘coming soon.’ With 4G, dual-core processor and notable specs the T-Mobile G2x seems like a very handy smartphone to us.
