Amazon App Store Vs Apple Store: Competing For Angry Birds Rio

For those of you who are unaware the Amazon Appstore has gone live today and in their bid for success they have Angry Birds Rio for free for Android devices. Angry Birds Rio has had some coverage from us in recent times with a video of the new style of boss and graphical gameplay.

Of course with Apple being the original platform for Angry Birds they were a little miffed by the fact Amazon were getting exclusivity over Rio but we can now report that the app is also available on the Apple Store for iOS users and has been for most of today. The price of it is £0.59 or $0.99 from iTunes and we are wondering which operating system between Android and the iOS will end up with the most downloads over the next few days.

Already Angry Birds Rio is the top grossing and the top paid app when checking from an iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad and we are unsure as to how it’s doing on Android from the Amazon Appstore. Mentioning the name that Amazon has chosen… ‘Appstore’, it’s a little close to Apple’s trademark ‘App Store’ don’t you think? That’s one of the discussions happening over at Phandroid so head over and join in if you are that way inclined.

Do you think Rovio are running out of ideas for Angry Birds? Do they need to make a 3D version? Let us know in the comments section below.
