Mac OS X 10.6.7 Software Update Now: MacBook Pro Bug Fixer

Earlier today we told how many were reporting problems with their new Apple MacBook Pros, 15 and 17-inch versions. It seemed that some sort of firmware issue was causing freezing when using multiple programs. Now we have news of a software update, Mac OS X 10.6.7 that is hoped will sort out various bug and security issues, including the one we’ve just mentioned.

Although this will be a minor improvement update for many Mac owners, for those 2011 MacBook Pro owners who have noticed the problems it will be a welcome upgrade and they will be happy to hear of the software update which is available now, according to Donald Melanson on Engadget, sourced from 9to5Mac. Not only should the update fix the freezing issues but also a flickering issue which other 2011 MacBook Pro owners had noticed.

Some of the fixes listed by Apple include improvements to reliability, resolving issues when transferring files, addressing Mac App Store bugs and FaceTime performance issues and finally that all important improvement to “graphics stability and external display compatibility.” If you want to find out more about the Mac OS X 10.6.7 update, an article by Daniel Eran Dilger over on Apple Insider lists the security patches included in the release, with AppleScript fixes, and updates for AirPlay WiFi networking among the many so check that out at the link for full info.

Will you be installing this update straight away? If so we’d like to know if you had noticed any problems with your 2011 MacBook Pro and if the software update resolved the issue so please do send us your comments.
