Facebook Update Events To Include Check-ins For iPhone Users

The Facebook updates just keep on rolling in; the social network of the moment boasts more users than all of the other ones with more than 500 million and to keep them happy there are a few changes that have been implemented.

Some of the changes include the post button being removed from comments in favor of a simple tap on the enter key, the Places going global, other locations being suggested for Facebook’s Places and finally that the development team seem to be re-testing the memorable status updates which is causing some discomfort. Now we have something new to report on and that is that Facebook has updated the events to include check-ins.

We learned of this through a brief report over on allfacebook.com by Jackie Cohen, she talks about how Facebook began testing the check-in button for event pages that are accessed by iPhone users, she also informs us that a spokesperson for Facebook has been in contact via email and has said that they are currently testing this and that it will be available in the next iPhone release (by that we are guessing Facebook app update).

Cohen explains that the actual check-in icon will only appear on the actual day of the event and only when users are close geographically to the address. We are guessing this has something to do with deal integrations and perhaps when different organizations hold events that you can check-in to they will offer promotions.

What do you think of the new functionality? Have you seen it yet? Let us know in the comments section below.
