Creative ZiiO 7-inch Tablet Get’s Froyo This Week

The world of the tablet PC that was rejuvenated by Apple last year has been blown wide open in 2011 by additions such as the Motorola Xoom, the Notion Ink Adam and of course the iPad 2. One device that you may not have thought about or even considered is the Creative ZiiO.

None the less their devices are around and both the 7” and the 10” are currently on Éclair 2.1. Over at Engadget their author Richard Lai has said that the 7-inch model will be the first to obtain the Froyo update and it will be coming on March 25th, not only that but the bigger version will be getting Android Froyo 2.2 in April.

The handful of Creative ZiiO tablet users will be pleased with this information of an upgraded OS for their tablet PC, but you can’t help feeling that this is case of too little too late. We are also wondering what one of these tablets could do if the XDA developers got hold of one… Honeycomb maybe?

We have already seen the success they have had with the NOOK Color being overclocked and then running Android 3.0 Honeycomb. Of course if the ZiiO tablets are of interest to you then head over to Creative’s website where you can learn more about their devices.
