Google TV Remote App for iOS – iPhone, iPod touch and iPad

If you’ve heard of Google TV, the Internet-connected TV platform that was launched last year, then you may very well have a Google TV-branded product. If so you may have heard of the Google TV Remote app that was released for Android devices, and we have news that the Google TV Remote app is now available for iOS devices.

The app will allow those with iOS devices, the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, to use them to control Google TV and works with all Google TV products and the good news is that it’s free, according to Christian Zibreg over on 9to5Mac. The app will work on devices using iOS 3 or later. It’s pretty neat and you can see a video of how it works below this story.

Clint Boulton over on eWeek also reports on the iOS app for Google TV and tells more of the history of the Google TV platform and the new app. The app is largely the same as the Android version except that it does not let users share web pages from their iOS device to their TV screen. However the app does allow iOS device users to use their mouse pad, arrow keys, and other buttons to change channels, adjust volume and more, and also rather niftily, allows voice use to search for shows and movies from wherever they may be in the home.

What are your thoughts on the Google TV Remote app coming to iOS devices? Will you be downloading the app from iTunes? Let us know with your comments.
