Pentax Optio RS1500 Camera: Customizable Chassis

We at OSM appreciate innovative designs and creations as well as great cameras; one of the craziest things we have reported on is a customized pair of Nike Air Force 1’s that has been changed to become a pair of speakers.

Some of the cameras DSLRs and camcorders that we have reported on include a comparison between the Canon T2i and the T3i, the Sony DSC-HX9v and the Philips HD device with WiFi and a 23x zoom. Today however, we are reporting on the Pentax Optio RS1500 camera that has a fully customizable chassis.

We learned of this device through a report on Slashgear by Shane McGlaun, he says that the camera comes with a range of interchangeable lens ring snaps and a removable faceplate system and that it can be customized without any tools in three easy steps.

Of course the device comes with a choice of ten skins already, but if you get one of these bad boys you can download the personal skin designer from Pentax and use their software to design your own skins to print to their own color printer. This means that you could pretty much take a picture of anything you like and you can use it as your camera skin.

The device comes with some pretty good specs for a point and shoot camera too, it has a 3” LCD display, a 4x optical zoom and a 14 megapixel image sensor. Not only that but the design of it is tiny, about the size of a credit card. If you would like to pick one of these up then head over to the official Pentax website where you can browse through further details and order yours for an April shipping date.

What would you have as your skin? Will this be your next point and shoot digital camera? Let us know in the comments section below.
