Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 2: Closer Look

If there’s any of you out there wondering whether updated information has come through for the HTC Droid Incredible 2 handset running on Android 2.3 OS, then the answer to that is yes in terms of images plus a full specification listing sheet.

Over the past few weeks, the successor to the original HTC Incredible running on Verizon‘s network has really just been snippets of information. But at last 4 images seen from BGR via Androidspin, will give you a clearer idea of what to expect when it arrives. Unfortunately we are still no where near giving you a concrete date, something of which HTC and Verizon have become particularly unreliable with in relation to other handsets including the Thunderbolt release delays. Over at Phandroid.com their estimation states the Incredible 2’s arrival as falling into line with its predecessor’s release date.

In an interesting article over on gizmocrunch.com they have spoken only today about the CDMA Incredible 2 being present at Verizon stores in the very near future with a 2 year-data plan from T-Mobile or AT&T. As our source pointed out, if the Droid Incredible 2 or S as its also known appeals to you and you are currently a user of one of the above carriers, then the GSM handset version will be available from online retailer “Plemix” for an unlocked price of $559.99 something of which we touched on yesterday.

In terms of specifications, you can expect for your pennies to get a 4-inch Super LCD WVGA display, 4GB of internal storage, 1GHz Qualcomm MSM 8655 processor, 768MB of RAM, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera and 8 megapixel rear and a fairly adequate battery size of 1450mAh.

As we mentioned in the first paragraph the handset is due to ship with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, although listings of the device are currently stating Android 2.2 Froyo OS.

Do you want to get your hands on one of the new HTC handsets be it, the Droid Incredible 2 or Thunderbolt?

    First!
I'm definetly more interested in the Thunderbolt than the Incredible 2. For one good reason, it comes out sooner. The release date on the Incredible 2 has yet to be announced and as far as we know, it's due sometime around mid to late 2nd quarter. With such a late release date, the Incredible 2 just isn't worth the wait. However if it featured more memory, more ram, and a dual core processer then maybe I'd be interested.
