Apple iPad 2 Sales: Now 4 – 5 weeks for online orders!

Since the Apple Pad 2 was finally released on Friday we have followed the developments of sales and more specifically the high demand leading to low availability. Now we have updated news for you of online order shipping times and if you’re waiting for an iPad 2 or about to order one, it’s not good news.

We previously told how within hours of online orders opening, shipping times had been pushed back from 2 – 3 days to 2 – 3 weeks. Yesterday we then informed readers that the iPad 2 was sold out and that online order shipping times were now 3 – 4 weeks. We then told of news that some retail Apple Stores were expecting replenished stocks today and rumors that some of these stores would be opening early today. Now we hear that as far as online orders go, it seems that if you order one today the shipping times are now as long as 4 – 5 weeks!

We heard about this from Mark Gurman over on 9to5Mac, who points out that if indeed as was rumored, we see an iPad 3 or indeed a smaller iPad later this year, the gap between receiving your order and the new one coming out is becoming shorter and shorter. It seems that your best bet for now is to keep checking your local Apple Store. We have just checked the online apple store and these 4 – 5 week shipping times are still listed and apply to every model of every color on both AT&T and Verizon carriers.

I ordered online early on March 11th from the Apple Store. The order status window today (March 15) shows a delivery date between Mar 22 – Mar 29.

I now wonder if buying from Best Buy, WalMart or Target would have been better/faster?

It would have been. My local Target gave out reservation tickets all day on March 11th allowing customers to leave with the tickets and return at 5pm to purchase. I felt totally robbed like Target was selling them before they were actually on sale! Two friends of mine were successful at purchasing from Best Buy late evening on the 11th as well, I feel like I totally missed out by placing an online order!

my local best buy only carried 15 ipad2 and they didnt see any coming in the near future, bestbuy cancelled all pre orders, The only way to get one now is by apple online store, which is now 4 to 5 week wait.
