ASUS A30S: Sandy Bridge & NVIDIA GT520 Present: Desirable?

There are many laptops that are now sporting the Sandy Bridge processor and a few with the NVIDIA GT520 processor but until now ASUS wasn’t one of them. Some devices we have seen with the Intel Sandy Bridge option are the HP TouchSmart 610, the 9310 Elite series and also the new Lenovo ThinkPads.

Today we have the ASUS A30 which the guys at NetbookLive managed to get their hands on. It has around 5 hours of use but let’s see what specs it has, we know that it will have 8GB of RAM, the NVIDIA GT520 with Optimus and the Sandy Bridge Core i5-2410M processor. Not bad battery life for a machine with specs like that don’t you think?

This device hasn’t been officially released as yet but Joanna Stern over at Engadget says that the device looks a lot like the U30Jc and they are expecting it to have a sweet price tag. Over at NetbookLive they are reviewing the device and point out first of all that this is an early sample model so the benchmarks are likely to change a bit when the released model comes to the table.

The keyboard on the device looks a lot like that of the Sony Vaio series ones and if you check the specs from NetbookLive then you will see that the specs are comparable to the MacBook Air 13-inch however it is quite a lot thicker. Check out the videos below to see the benchmark scores and a tour of the outside of the laptop.
