Angry Birds Rio: Exclusive Launch On Amazon App Store

We at OSM love Angry Birds and regularly report on the different versions of Angry Birds Seasons as well as other weird and wonderful things surrounding Rovio’s creation. It’s such a simple game and yet it is just so addictive.

We previously reported that the new Angry Birds Rio would be coming in March to the iPad and the iPhone but today we have some news for you coming from Phandroid’s Quentyn Kennemer. Rovio and Amazon have announced that the new Angry Birds Rio will be exclusively for Android phones using Amazon’s own app store. You can check out the original source on the Amazon blog but we got this information from www.eurodroid.com.

In addition to that bit of news Amazon will also be offering an advert free version of the game and again this is only available through the Amazon app store. The strange thing here is that for Android users to get the app they will need to bypass the official Google Android store and get it from Amazon which we are sure quite a few of you won’t be particularly happy about.

Still at least it’s on its way and we won’t have to wait that much longer for it, especially as many of you have already seen the promotional level that was available on Super Bowl day. We are wondering if it will still contribute towards the 30 million Android Angry Birds downloads. You can check out the full press release on this link.
