Video Game Market: 3% Growth In February

Everybody knows that the video games market is massive and continually growing. We have recently been reporting on a few gaming input devices from the likes of Razer with the DeathAdder mouse and the Naga Epic as well as the Cyber Snipa Sonar 5.1 gaming headset.

With that being the case and the increase in sales for the Microsoft Kinect it doesn’t really come as a surprise that the market has grown by that amount in the U.S. from the same period last year. It has grown to $1.36 billion according to figures from the NPD group as reported by BGR.

Contributing factors are that the video game hardware sales were up by 10% although software fell by 5% during the month. The Kinect is truly leading the way in terms of hardware sales and it’s good to see.

Over at Bloomberg their author Cliff Edwards is reporting the figures that Microsoft and Nintendo sold. Nintendo sold 454,000 Wii consoles last month whilst Microsoft topped the home-console sales category with 535,000 Xbox 360s being sold. Sony are yet to reveal their figures but their President of Sony Computer Entertainment America said in an interview with Bloomberg Television that they are having their “best year ever”.
