Panasonic Reveal New SD Cards: Ultra Fast Gold Series

If you own a great digital camera like the Nikon Coolpix L120 or the Olympus XZ-1, it’s important to have an SD card that is able to handle everything these cameras have to throw at it. Looking to help you in your search for a card like this, Panasonic have just revealed their new range of ultra fast Gold Series SD cards.

These new cards are ideal for both high-definition digital video cameras and high-resolution still cameras, being compatible with the SDHC standard they still offer amazing speeds of 95MB/s read and 80MB/s write as well as some added protection against anything else that can be thrown at it.

According to this post from Expertreviews.co.uk the new Gold Series have improved protecting against temperature damage, water ingress, x-ray and shock damage and also hosts built in protection to stop the card getting scrambled in the event of power failure.

In the companies press release which you can read here it says that these new cards will also allow quick data transfer to a PC up to 4 times faster than the current Gold SDW Series. Becoming available sometime in April users will get the choice of 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities.

There is no official word on pricing just yet but judging by the last range we expect you could be paying roughly £45 for the 8GB card and anywhere up to £165 for the 32GB one. What are your thoughts on these cards? Will you be purchasing one?
