HTC Desire S: UK Launch Next 2 Weeks- Around £400

We have some exciting news for those of you eagerly awaiting the release of the HTC Desire S. The smartphone was expected to launch in the UK in April but it appears that it could be coming as early as a fortnight.

Online retailer Clove has announced that it is stocking the Desire S in the last week of March, which could be as much as a month premature. We are not entirely sure how many retailers will be getting their hands on the smartphone early, but we do know that Amazon will be selling the handset on April 18th. We brought you the news recently that Amazon had started taking pre-orders for the Desire and that it would be sold for £419.99.

The original HTC Desire’s predecessor comes with an impressive 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 5 megapixel camera and 3.7” Sony SuperTFT display. It also has multiple social networking outlets and Facebook integration. The Desire S runs on Android’s 2.3 Gingerbread OS and is being sold a little cheaper by Clove, for £406.80 with VAT included.

Cnet has reported that a number of the large mobile companies like Orange, Three, T-Mobile and Vodafone will have to stay content with the April release, so it looks like Clove could be one of the only retailers to stock the phone early. Does it seem a little strange that the major retailers are having to wait longer then others for the Desire S? Let us know if you will be getting the smartphone early or if you have already pre-ordered it.
